A tank or silo often weighs less than a mid-sized construction machine, but measures many times as much in diameter and length. So the issue is not weight but clearance: tree crowns, traffic signs, overhead lines.

Loads like these therefore almost always travel with an escort vehicle that checks narrow points in advance and stops oncoming traffic.
